Why Brunette Hair Is Having a Major Moment in 2026
Are you thinking about going darker this year? You are not the only one, because brunette hair is one of the colours we get asked for most in our Dubai and Abu Dhabi salons in 2026. The brunette hair trends of 2026 have moved away from one flat shade from root to tip, toward a brown base with a few lighter brown pieces painted around the face and through the top.
Hair grows about a centimetre a month, and when your colour sits close to your natural base, that regrowth is hard to spot. It is also easier on your hair, because you need little or no bleach.
What Brunette Hair Looks Like in 2026
In the salon, these are the three versions we get asked for most, with the skin tone each one suits best.
- Chocolate brown hair is a warm mid-to-dark brown. It is the one we suggest to most first-timers, and it looks best on warm or golden skin.
- Espresso brunette is darker and a little cooler, close to black in low light, and it suits cool- or pink-toned skin.
- Caramel brunette is a brown base with golden-brown pieces through the lengths, so it is the easy choice if you still have old highlights growing out.
Why Brunette Hair Is Back in 2026
The main reason is hair health, because after a few years of platinum and icy blonde, a lot of clients come to us with ends that snap and feel dry. The American Academy of Dermatology says dyeing hair darker is usually better than going lighter, and it suggests keeping within about three shades of your natural colour.
Then there is the time it takes. With a bright blonde you are usually back for roots and a toner every four or five weeks, which comes to around eleven visits over a year. A brunette close to your own base can normally stretch to eight or nine weeks, and that brings it down to about six visits, which is five Saturday afternoons you get back.
The UAE climate is the third reason, since blonde hair picks up a yellow or orange tint after a few weeks of strong sun and chlorinated pool water. Brown hides that change much better, so your colour still looks right in August.
How We Do Brunette Hair Colour at Our Hair Colour Salon in Dubai
Every brunette appointment at our hair colour salon in Dubai and Abu Dhabi starts with a consultation, so your colourist can see your natural base and any colour already on your lengths.
Sunset Dune is the deeper brunette in our HALO colour collection, a rich brown with some warmth in it. Book it if you want a clear change from your current colour.
Touch of Light keeps your natural base and adds a few fine, lighter brown pieces around your face and crown. If you want a dimensional brunette without looking like you have changed colour, it is the best option.
If you want more lightness through the lengths, ask for brunette balayage. Our balayage and foilyage menu has hand-painted balayage and AirTouch, and both grow out softly.
How to Keep Brunette Hair Rich in the UAE Heat
Brown colour fades toward orange or red as it oxidises, so wash with a sulfate-free shampoo in lukewarm water and wear a hat or scarf on beach days, since UV fades brown just like it fades blonde. Every four to six weeks, book a toner from our Express Color menu to bring the tone back to the shade you left with.

The right brunette hair colour depends on your undertone. Chocolate brown generally works well with warm or golden skin, while espresso brunette can complement cooler or pink-toned skin. Caramel brunette is a versatile option if you want warmth and dimension.
Generally, yes. If your brunette hair is close to your natural base, regrowth is less noticeable, and you may be able to go longer between appointments. Darkening the hair can also require less bleaching than going lighter.
Yes. Sun exposure and pool chlorine can affect brunette hair colour, causing brown shades to gradually look warmer, redder or more orange. Using colour-safe hair products, washing with lukewarm water and protecting your hair from UV exposure can help.
